Upstate New York Chasing Rising Trout

Positioned at the gateway to the Catskill Park and surrounded by over 20,000 acres of State Forest Preserve Roscoe calls itself the "Trout Town, USA." The town is a destination for fly-fishing enthusiasts because of its location at the intersection of two rivers popular for trout fishing (the Beaver Kill and the Willowemoc Creek). The community is a traditional stopping point for people traveling along Route 17 approximately two hours from NYC, Connecticut and New Jersey.

*A big thanks to Kristian Kozlowski for putting this trip together, documenting and teaching me how to fly fish

Little Neck Clams and Foster's Oil Cans

As your gathering clams throw all the small little neck clams on ice in the cooler immediately. As they chill down it makes it easier to shuck them later. The best thing after your done clamming in the sedge islands is to pop open a Foster's oil can and eat some fresh clams with lemon and cocktail sauce. That is about as fresh as your going to get it.
